Mogadishu receives UAE aid ship to support drought relief

An Emirati aid ship loaded with food and relief supplies for approximately 2.5 million drought-affected Somalians has arrived in the port of Mogadishu in Somalia. Providing all forms of humanitarian aid to the Somali people who are suffering from drought is one of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Mogadishu receives UAE aid ship to support drought reliefThe shipment was coordinated with UAE Red Crescent (ERC), Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. Relief aid has started to reach the displaced in their areas and camps. As a result of a lack of rain for three consecutive seasons, the UAE is exerting significant effort to deliver relief to Somali regions affected by the drought.

It illustrates the leadership’s willingness to aid all countries and enhance their ability to address humanitarian crises and mitigate their impact. This is done by taking an interest in the situation in Somalia. Many people in Somalia are suffering from severe drought, which is one of the most severe droughts in the Horn of Africa.
